An early Halloween & Friday 56

  • Thursday, October 27, 2011

This Friday 56 and with Halloween coming upon us, I decided to go with a classic spooker, Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven and Other Poems

If you've never read Poe, hopefully the snippet above will give you a taste of the macabre. Or even just get you asking, who is Helen?

Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, is a great way to discover more books, and book lovers. And it's easy to join!

  • Grab a book, any book.
  • Turn to page 56. Find any sentence that grabs you. (Yes, I cheat sometimes and put a little more than a sentence!)
  •  Post it.
  •  Add your (url) post in Freda's Voice Linky.
Have a great weekend, and keep safe during trick or treat!

  7. Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've read a few of Poe’s stories like The Black Cat, The Cask of Amontillado, The Gold-Bug, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Purloined Letter and A Tale of the Ragged Mountains. The Black Cat and A Tale of the Ragged Mountains deeply disturbed me as a child. TThe Murders in the Rue Morgue slightly repulsed me as a teen. But I really liked his The Cask of Amontillado as an adult. Maybe I should try more of his works now.
