#AMonthofFaves: 10 Fave Book Covers ++

I admit that a great-looking cover will make me want to read the book. This year, I not only had some amazing reads but some pretty good-looking ones, too. I love compelling images, interesting illustrations, unique typography, or something that just has calls to you in some weird way.

Just like T said at Traveling with T, it's quite the feat to narrow it down to just 10. So I caved and decided to go with 12.

Belle Cora by Philip Margulies speaks volumes with its corset and pink which hints of the amazing woman behind this epic historical fiction piece.

The Heart Does Not Grow Back by Fred Venturini has a cover just as unusual as its hero with regenerating limbs.

Incendiary Girls: Stories by Kodi Scheer has a haunting black and white cover featuring an elegant horse. Why oh why?

2 A.M. at The Cat's Pajamas by Marie-Helene Bertino's typography is already gorgeous but the embossing is even moreso in person!

Madame Picasso by Anne Girard shows how even the simplest cover can capture the essence of a story.

Aunty Lee's Deadly Specials by Ovidia Yu made me hungry. Then it made me think again about eating that enticing Singaporean dish ... when I saw the title.

Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan has a cover that makes me hopeful, especially since the stories of the African children featured are so heartbreaking.

Gutenberg's Apprentice by Alix Christie is another book you have to see in person to appreciate. It's a tactile book all around, with a cover embossed and gilt, on textured paper, with a cut-out of the circle showing Gutenberg and his apprentice. So appropriate!

The Frangipani Hotel: Stories by Violet Kupersmith has such a calm cover ... quite at odds with the Vietnamese ghosts of these short stories!

Juliet's Nurse by Lois Leveen is classically appealing, quite apt for a retelling of Romeo and Juliet.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman has a breathtaking quality to it with its subtle sparkle and blues. I've seen the cover copied but never pulled off as successfully.

Man V. Nature: Stories by Diane Cook is a collage that simply works for these shorts about human nature with its odd dystopian feel.

See anything you like, cover-wise or story-wise? Do share!
