This week's question is:
My answer: Quite a few things. Some I keep because I personally loved them and will likely reread them. Or maybe I have someone in mind who is likely to like the book too... I hang on to these to circulate personally and if I can let it go, I do. I also like to donate many of my books to charities and libraries.
I used to hold on to my books like it was nobody's business (I admit I have a small collection still but I'm learning to share :) ) I like to think books as consumable; I prefer to let them roam the world and hopefully affect someone else out there. After all, the library is always there! (Or I can always use that as an excuse to buy a new book!)

This week's question is:
How do you organize your books to be read?
My answer: I have a pile. A growing pile. A multiplying pile. That's the extent of my organization! Pure genius!
Hope you're all geared up for a great Friday ... and weekend!
Hopping through. I usually keep all my books until some time when I need to purge because I'm overflowing. Then they go to the library for donation.

LOL I know I hold onto my books like crazy! They're my kids and i feel protective of them too much to give them away. So they go on my shelf.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes. I too have an ever growing pile of books to be read.
I completely understand about the piles! :)

Here's my F&F!
I donate a lot of books to the library too. Like 3 a month. When I donated my Christopher Pike book of Witch World because I didn't like it, it felt good to see it on the shelf. I know that dozens of people will get a chance to read and hopefully some of them will love it.

LOL - Loved your response to the Book Blogger Hop! Have a great weekend! =)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I'm really bad at sharing books, unless it's my sister but that's probably because I know she won't read them, so I use her bookshelves as extra storage space! Thanks for sharing and, once again, being a part of the CoaHPF tour :D

LOL...stacking them in the order to read is a great idea. That would save a lot of deleting and adding to my spreadsheet.
ReplyDeleteI use an Excel spreadsheet to keep my books in the order I need to read them.
Stop by for my full, organized answer if you like. :)
Happy Hopping!!

My Blog Hop Answer
I sorted through my books this summer, and while they're still not alphabetical by author I do have them categorized (somewhat) by genre: a shelf for my Japanese literature, my Russian literature, and a whole shelf for my Madeleine L'Engle collection. I also have a section of one my shelves for the ARCs I haven't read yet. But I so agree wi you about the sharing part. Books need to find their ways into many hands!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the multiple piles also. I don't want to feel like I'm doing assigned reading- even if I assigned it to myself!
ReplyDeleteLOL I bet you know which pile most (if not all) your books are though, right? I can't do that - I'm OCD organized, but my brother's like that and whenever I try to help him get organized he starts losing things.

ReplyDeleteJust one of the things that bibliophiles need to contend with! Thanks the the visit :)
DeleteI'm a high school English teacher with a growing classroom library, so when appropriate, I add books to my classroom collection. Sometimes I pass books along to a colleague or my mom. And sometimes I just hoard. My books "to be read" are mostly in towering piles, and they have taken over my home and my life. My poor husband ;)
ReplyDeletePoor hubby! :) Precisely why I started giving away my books. Towering piles of dusty unread books were weighing on my conscience ...
DeleteDon't worry my organization technique is about as efficient as yours LOL
