This Friday is brought to you by 4 Friday memes!

My Friday memes seem to be spinning out of control! I just couldn't pass up adding to my usual three Friday memes. The new one is a really cool one, promise!

More after the jump!

Meme 1: Filipino Friday

The Filipino Friday meme is extra special as it's a great chance to show the world of how so many in our country love the written word. So I am sharing the love! Check out the link to other Filipino Bloggers, and check out their answers to the weekly questions leading up to ReaderCon, the first Filipino Reader Conference on September 16.

Q: How did you become a reader? What factors influenced you to take up reading as a hobby and why do you enjoy it so much?

My answer: They let me loose in the library at a young age and I've always had a feeling I was in a candy store when I was in a library or a bookstore! I feel giddy, even high!

Come on, what's not to enjoy? The smell and feel of books ... those lovely words that come together so you can go anywhere, become anyone, experience anything!

Meme 2: The Friday 56

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56.
*Find any sentence that grabs you. (I cheat sometimes and put a little more than a sentence!)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post in Freda's Voice Linky.

Don't laugh. I adore Trinny and Susannah and have this book lying on the table next to me. I actually picked this up during a recent giveaway weekend! I think it's easier to just post a photo. Here ya go:

(Thank you puglypixel for the sequin brushes! :) Flippin' gorgeous!)

Book Blogger HopMeme 3: Book Blogger Hop

Over at the Book Blogger Hop, here's the question:

“What’s the LONGEST book you’ve ever read?”

I can only base this on how thick books are. I find though that some books are thick but the words aren't dense (think Twilight). So I'm not cheating when I answer!

I'm pretty sure that Les Miserables is one of those chunksters -- my old paperback copy has a permanent crease down the spine, neatly making the whole book off-kilter because it is so thick! I love my copy to bits - the pages are falling out, it's been taped so many times that it looks kind of silly.

And finally, Meme 4: Follow Friday!

Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

Oh, that's a toughie! But I loved the graphic novel Griffin and Sabine by Nick Bantock:

A novel in colorful postcards and letters depicts the enigmatic relationship between British artist Griffin Moss and Sabine Strohem, a mysterious woman living on a Pacific island who can see Griffin as he works in London.

Of course, I want to be Sabine - a mysterious, exotic, creative woman who Griffin follows halfway around the world!

I hope you all have fun hopping around this week's blogs! Happy weekend!

  3. My friends make fun of me because I keep all of my books pristine. I usually try not to break the spine. If it's a book I've read over and over again though I like the fact that it looks well read, funny that. I haven't read les Mis but I have seen it on so many peoples lists I think I am going to have to get myself a copy.

  5. Books = candy! Or you can substitute cupcakes or even French macarons (as illustrated by your banner design).
