Etsy Booksellers ... for those who love old books! (Part 2)

I gave you three reasons I love old books and one of my fave sources is Etsy. Here are a few more booksellers that specialize in vintage and antique books. I've picked out a few of their offerings:

Infinite Books

This bookstore is a surprisingly - even shockingly - super affordable source of bundled vintage books. The bundles are varied and of wonderful quality. 

My pick: Set of 50 vintage Penguin paperbacks (CA$23.87)*

If you're a Penguin fan, you're probably going slightly crazy right now with this lot ... right? I couldn't believe the price for the 50 books!

My pick: Set of 32 Agatha Christie Collection Hardbacks (CA$52)*

You know I'm a crazy Christie fan. Are you? Looky, looky, looky. 

My pick: Set of 7 Famous Five hardbacks by Enid Blyton (CA$61)*

The Famous Five by Enid Blyton will remind you of the adventures of your childhood! These first edition hardbacks come with their dustjackets. Oh Enid, I have missed you so!

Amy's Books and Ephemera

Such an amazing collection of vintage books spanning literature, children's, biography, history! There a number of hard-to-finds, and if you're on the look out for something extra unique that's non-book, you can also get vintage flash cards, books prints, colouring books, and more!

My pick: 338171, TE Lawrence of Arabia by Victoria Ocampo* ($26)

This ex-library book 338171, TE Lawrence of Arabia by Victoria Ocampo. Translated by David Garnett . "Victoria Ocampo has given the most profound and the best-balanced of all portraits of my brother." --from the introduction by Professor A. W. Lawrence. 128 pages. Copyright 1963.

Setin Stein Workshop

My pick: Vintage Puss in Boots print*

I love elephants and I had to include this vintage print from a German fairy tale book, which surprisingly features an elephant!

Eager for Word

Visit Eager for Word* online | Based in the UK

Got super-excited with the selection in this bookseller's stash -- there are a plenty of beautifully bound classics and some unusual books that would look great on my shelf. And not just just vintage but even some antique books! Just looking at most of them ... art!

My pick: Frankenstein vintage book by Mary Shelley* ($65)

Faux leather, beautiful embossing on a 1970s edition of Frankenstein. If this classic looks lonely, look up similarly beautiful vintage editions of Austen's Pride and Prejudice* (1960s, $51), Sense and Sensibility* (1970s, $30) ... or more ...

Another pick: Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett* ($25)

A 1900s Edwardian vintage book, this copy really appeals because of it's gilt text. Click on the link to crack it open and ooh and ahh over the illustrations! Can't really go wrong with the author of The Secret Garden.

Yet another pick: Vintage Winnie the Pooh book illustrated by E. H. Shepard The House at Pooh Corner by A. A. Milne, vintage 1940s*

The beloved bear in its 1940s vintage illustrated glory ... yes please!

Etsy Booksellers ... for those who love old books!

I gave you three reasons I love old books and it got me thinking: where the heck do we find these treasures? My go to is the local thrift store and I naturally look up books at garage sales. Online, there are tons of sources too!

By far one of my faves is Etsy. I've become quite the troll on Etsy that I've discovered so many amazing booksellers that specialize in vintage and antique books. I've picked out a few of their offerings that made me drool ... and I know you'll probably join me in the "wanting."

Book Bugs

Visit Book Bugs* online | based in the UK

This bookstore sells "books that spark memories" and not surprisingly specializes in vintage and antique children's books. There are some great classic hardcovers too!

My pick: Happy birthday With Ant and Bee by Angela Banner*

Before you balk at the price tag, remember that this is a first edition (1964) of the popular UK series Ant and Bee. Obviously not to be handed to a toddler ... just a nostalgic toddler at heart! 

Eclectic Bookstore

Visit Eclectic Bookstore* online | Based in the US

As per its name, this bookseller has a wide selection of vintage paperbacks and hardcovers, TV tie-ins, aviation and war books, and children's books ... over 500+ of them!

My pick: Christmas on the Roof of the World by Ernest Hemingway*

I have my eyes open for Nobel Prize winners because of the Read the Nobel 2016 Challenge. This is a rare reprinting of an article by Ernest Hemingway that appeared in 1923 book form.

Setin Stein Workshop

Visit Setin Stein Workshop* online | Based in Canada

This offers both vintage books and clothing! What makes this seller stand out is its selection of vintage folklore and children's books.

My pick: Tales of Nokomisby Patronella Johnston*

What a gorgeous book! This features stories of teachings by Nokomis, an Ojibway word that translates to "grandmother." Being based in Canada myself, I have a profound appreciation for the many First Nations stories that passed down orally through the generations. This collection is illustrated by famous Canadian First Nations artist, Francis Kagige.

Another pick: The Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen*

I've always loved illustrated fairytales and this book promises to deliver both with aplomb! The illustrator is Finnish Kaarina Kaila. 

Books with Age

Visit Books with Age* online |  Based in the US

A very wide selection of vintage and antique and the prices are extremely affordable. Children's books are around $4, and majority of books are in $10-30 range.

My pick: Reader's Digest Best Loved Books for Young Readers (Vol. 12)*

I've always loved Reader's Digest and remember borrowing compilations like this from my grandparents' stash as a child! This one brings back those memories!
