Bicycle library in London

Stumbled across The Bicycle Library, a UK-based library, in a Inhabitat post. I thought it was a library on bicycles (err, not many books on those, methinks). Wrong. It's a mobile library (actually a double decker bus!) advocating bicycles in the city.

For Londoners, I'm jealous :) Check out more on their website!

Floating book fair in the Philippines!

A veritable floating library! The M/V Logos Hope, a non-profit organization based in Germany that operates ships that sail around the world to bring knowledge, help and hope, is currently docked at Pier 15 in Manila’s South Harbor. The ship has over 500,000 books and over 5,000 different titles - go check it out if you're in that part of the world!

The world is a better place because of projects like these.

Old tank transformed into a roving library

In Buenos Aires, artist Raul Lemesoff converts an old Falcon tank into a mobile library! A weapon of destruction into a weapon of instruction!

He says:

The Weapon of Mass Instruction is meant to get people to recognize various aspects of life: sharing, education, and also to have a good time. It’s a contribution to peace through literature.

Little Free Library - adopt one for your neighbourhood!

I am loving the concept of Little Free Library, which is promoting literacy and a community spirit, one little library at a time! Their mission is to top Andrew Carnegie - to build more than 2,510 libraries around the world!

Check out the story of how two friends started up this project, and how the Little Free Library is creating quite a buzz, from Wisconsin to Sacramento to Toronto!
